Haze Remover Paste No. 78

An ink haze and stencil residue remover that is effective on most inks and emulsions. The efficiency depends on the age of the dried-in ink. Haze Remover Paste No. 78 does etch mesh surfaces.

To avoid premature rupture of your mesh, (especially worn or fine mesh), it is best to limit the application time to as short as necessary and never more than 10 minutes. Wear goggles and gloves.

Follow instructions carefully to avoid damaging mesh. Recommended for use with all Ulano Stencil systems on all mesh except natural silk and metalized polyester. For industrial use only. Very low alkaline content.


Instructions

Power wash after rinsing most of the haze remover from the mesh
  • Remove ink and stencil as usual and allow the mesh to dry.
  • Stir the Haze Remover Paste No. 78 thoroughly.
  • Results can be improved if the mesh is treated with the solvent of the ink before the paste is applied.
  • Water on the screen or brush dilutes the action of the chemical.
  • Brush the paste briskly on both sides of the dry screen with a dry, long bristle nylon brush.
  • Haze Remover Paste No. 78 does etch mesh surfaces. To avoid premature rupture of the mesh, especially worn or fine mesh, it is best to limit the application time to as short as necessary.
  • Let the screen stand for no more than ten minutes or the paste can damage the mesh.
  • Never let No. 78 dry on the mesh.
  • Rinse with a gentle spray to avoid splashing the chemical, then a power spray from both sides.

Health & Safety Information

Haze Remover Paste No. 78 is for industrial use only. Use adequate ventilation. Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes, mucous membranes, and clothing. Haze Remover Paste No. 78 is combustible: do not use near heat or open flame. It is corrosive and contains caustic soda, causing severe burns on contact. Harmful or fatal if swallowed. Flush spills immediately with water mixed with equal parts of vinegar. Wear rubber gloves, goggles (or preferably a plastic face mask), and a plastic or rubber apron.

First Aid: Eyes - Flush immediately with water for at least 20 minutes.
External - Flood exposed area with water for at least 15 minutes. Wash with a solution of equal parts vinegar and water.
Internal - Drink large quantities of water or milk followed by citrus juice or diluted vinegar. Do not induce vomiting. CALL A PHYSICIAN AT ONCE.

ACTIGHOST RAPID™ - Acti Ghost (Europe Only)

A HIGHLY VISCOUS, BIODEGRADABLE SOLVENT-BASED SCREEN CLEANER AND ALKALINE ACTIVATOR

Actighost Rapid is a highly viscous alkaline ghost image, ink residue, and emulsion residue remover formulated with biodegradable solvents. It is intended for use following normal stencil removal procedures. Actighost Rapid is virtually odor free and has a high flash point. Because of its high viscosity, Actighost Rapid can be used on coarse mesh and applied with a coating trough. In normal use, Actighost Rapid is sufficiently diluted with water so that it can be flushed harmlessly down the drain and into biological sewage treatment facilities.

INSTRUCTIONS
For Use As A Screen Cleaner
Step 1: STIR AND APPLY ACTIGHOST RAPID

Wear gloves, goggles, and protective clothing. Stir Actighost Rapid briefly, so that the ingredients are homogenized. Pour Actighost Rapid into a stainless steel coating trough and apply it onto the screen mesh from both sides. The mesh should be slightly damp or (preferably) dry.

Step 2: WAIT WHILE ACTIGHOST RAPID REACTS WITH mesh CONTAMINANTS Allow 2 - 5 minutes of dwell time.

Step 3: REMOVE ACTIGHOST RAPID WITH WATER Rinse Actighost Rapid thoroughly from the screen with a gentle spray of water, then wash the mesh with a commercial, high-pressure power spray unit.

For Use As An Activator To Remove Ghost Images Step 1: STIR AND APPLY OXIDIZING AGENT AND ACTIGHOST RAPID Wear gloves, goggles, and protective clothing. Work in a well ventilated area. Apply an oxidizing agent to the screen and allow it to dry. After the required dwell time, apply Actighost Rapid on both sides of the mesh with a stainless steel coating trough.

Step 2: WAIT BRIEFLY Allow a short dwell time.

Step 3: REMOVE OXIDIZING AGENT AND ACTIGHOST RAPID WITH WATER Rinse the oxidizing agent and Actighost Rapid thoroughly from the screen with a gentle spray of water, then wash the mesh with a commercial, high-pressure power spray unit.

CAUTION
Actighost Rapid reacts with frame adhesives, so it should not be used the on bonding areas of rigid frames.

Polyester mesh becomes more vulnerable to damage from Actighost Rapid the finer the mesh that is used, the longer the dwell time, the higher the ambient temperature, or the more the mesh has been used (or damaged). We recommend the testing of Actighost Rapid before its adopted in a shop, and Ulano will not assume responsibility for torn mesh.

Actighost Rapid is corrosive. In case of contact with the eyes, flush them liberally with water and see a doctor. PRODUCT DATA Color: brown to beige Flash point: ? 80º Celsius Density (20º C.): ? 1.17 gm./cubic cm. Storage: 9 months, tightly closed in the original container at 20 - 25º Celsius. After longer storage, especially at low temperatures, the viscosity of Actighost Rapid can increase and it may separate. A brief, vigorous stirring will homogenize the ingredients and lower the viscosity to its original cps.

A COATABLE INK STAIN AND STENCIL RESIDUE HAZE REMOVER; CONTAINS NO VOCs.

Walk Away Haze Remover is a thick liquid haze remover effective against most ink stains and stencil residues. Walk Away Haze Remover is formulated to react as it dries on the screen, so that it can be applied and left to work for a period of hours, or overnight. This dwell time will not harm polyester, nylon, or stainless steel fabric, but will damage metalized (nickel-coated) polyester. After initial drying, if additional reaction time is required, Walk Away Haze Remover can be reactivated by rewetting it with All-Purpose Ink Wash.

INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1:REMOVE THE STENCIL AND DRY THE SCREEN. Remove the stencil with a commercial stencil remover and power spray. Dry the screen thoroughly.

Step 2: APPLY WALK AWAY HAZE REMOVER TO THE SCREEN
Apply Walk Away Haze Remover to the fabric with a stainless steel coating trough. (Walk Away Haze Remover reacts with aluminum.) Walk Away Haze Remover can also be applied with a plastic card, a rag, or a sponge, as long as it fills the mesh openings and is layered on the surface of the fabric. To avoid contamination, discard any excess Walk Away Haze Remover rather than put it back in the container.

Step 3: DRY WALK AWAY HAZE REMOVER COMPLETELY
Walk Away Haze Remover reacts with ink stains and stencil residues during its drying, so let it dry completely so that it reacts completely. When dry, Walk Away Haze Remover assumes a crystalline appearance and turns white. Drying time can be accelerated with a fan or in a commercial drying unit.

Step 4: RINSE WALK AWAY HAZE REMOVER OFF THE SCREEN WITH WATER
Walk Away Haze Remover works best if it is removed from the screen first with a high pressure water spray (contrary to the procedure with most screen chemicals, which should be flushed away with low pressure first, to avoid high-pressure splashbacks). Obviously, then, eyes and skin protection are essential.

OPTIONAL REACTIVATING TREATMENT
The procedures outlined above will remove virtually all ink stains and stencil residues. If haze and ghost images persist, however, it is possible to reactivate Walk Away Haze Remover by rewetting it—not with water, but with All-Purpose Ink Wash. Brush All-Purpose Ink Wash thoroughly on both sides of the fabric to re-wet Walk Away Haze Remover. Flush with low pressure water, followed by a high-pressure power spray.

CAUTION
Avoid contact with eyes and skin; wear gloves, goggles, and protective clothing when using Walk Away Haze Remover. Work in a well ventilated area; do not breathe the fumes; note exposure limits and wear respiratory protection if they are exceeded. Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet for additional information.
