We introduced QLT in April, 2008 as an ultra-fast SBQ textile emulsion with high viscosity ( + 6500 CPS) and solids ( + 46%). Almost as an afterthought, we mentioned that it resists most washup solvents. That has proved to be a key feature now that many ink manufacturers are reformulating plastisols to eliminate phthalates as plasticizers. As it happens, the replacement plasticizers contain more aggressive solvents. QLT is quickly gaining new imprinted sportswear customers who now require an emulsion with better solvent resistance.

QX-1 is an SBQ sensitized, hybrid dual-cure emulsion that combines the convenience and shelf life of SBQ with the durability, versatility, and imaging properties of dual-cure emulsion.

QX-1 is compatible with all plastisol, UV, and solvent-based ink systems. Its matte finish virtually eliminates printing problems associated with high and low humidity conditions. QX-1 is formulated to provide wide exposure latitude and is easily reclaimed even if underexposed and used with aggressive inks and washup solvents.

QX-1 is durable and has excellent resolution, good definition, and very good wet strength. 37% solids content provides good stencil build per coat, excellent bridging of coarse mesh, and fast drying.

QX-1 is presensitized, and must be handled in yellow safe light conditions before exposure.

Ulano “Hybrid” Emulsion Technology Formulation for Industrial Screen Printing and Graphics

QX-3 is a dark blue colored, ready-to-use, fast exposing “hybrid” direct emulsion formulated for high resolution printing with solvent-based inks, and conventional UV and water-based UV inks. QX-3 combines the pre-mixed convenience, fast exposure speed, and extended shelf life of pure photopolymer emulsions with the durability, versatility, and excellent imaging properties of dual-cure emulsions. QX-3 provides wide exposure latitude with all common exposure systems, including such weak light sources as fluorescent tubes. QX-3 has excellent solvent resistance and can be reclaimed easily, even if under-exposed and used with aggressive inks and wash-up solvents. Its good mechanical resistance makes QX-3 the emulsion of choice for glass printing with abrasive frit inks. Shelf life: 18 months.
